Expansion of the logistics center: Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik invests a double-digit million amount

Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik, part of the Panther Group, has laid the foundations for future growth in Wustermark (Berlin/Brandenburg) with the purchase of a plot of land adjacent to the factory premises with an existing building at the beginning of July 2024, in which the storage capacity for finished goods will be significantly increased once again.

Ten years after the construction of the then new logistics center, over 16,000 m2 of hall space offers room for around 15,000 pallets of corrugated board products manufactured in the Panther Group's East German plant. The integration of a fully automated high-bay warehouse is planned for the future, which will increase capacity to around 30,000 pallets.

The connection between the plant sections, which was built in 2014 with foresight, via a fully automated road bridge ensures the perfect logistical connection to the new hall. Trucks can dock at a total of 16 loading ramps and pick up the finished goods for delivery to customers. The short distances, which make unnecessary transport movements within the factory premises superfluous, create an efficient link between the logistics areas. This investment will also eliminate existing external warehouses and massively reduce CO2 emissions caused by unnecessary truck journeys. Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik is thus taking a further step towards maximum product quality with a production process that can be controlled at all times, combined with the highest possible productivity and increased capacity.

The successful development of the site in Wustermark is also supported by technical investments, such as the recent hall extension. In the 20th year of Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik's existence in Havelland, it is clear that the standards integrated from the outset (GMP standard/good manufacturing practice and DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality) and 14001 (environment)) were and are important factors in its successful development. The production of corrugated cardboard on the state-of-the-art corrugator with its working width of 2,800 mm, its processing and finishing with flexo direct printing or the flexo preprint process, display production and packaging as well as forward-looking logistics are all united under one roof - all from a single source.
