UPM Communication Papers examines short-time work
News General news
UPM Communication Papers is looking into potential production cuts for its Finnish paper mills. The company confirms to EUWID that negotiations with workers are currently underway.
According to the company, the aim is to create a framework to be able to resort to the instrument of "temporary layoffs" - corresponding to the German short-time work scheme - depending on the market situation. In this context, UPM emphasises that no decisions or concrete plans are associated with these negotiations.
UPM Communication Papers is the world's leading producer of graphic papers. The company has four mills in this segment in Finland. Production at the Rauma, Kymi, Kaukas and Jämsänkoski sites includes coated and uncoated printing and writing papers as well as coated and uncoated catalogue and magazine papers.
