Ferdinand Bierbichler is replacing the large-format EPS boxes for its smoked fish with corrugated cardboard packaging. The new pack is made from virgin fibre material with a greaseproof water-based barrier coating that is suitable for direct food contact.

Space, cost and CO2 reduced
For better handling, the fish remains wrapped in waxed paper and the packaging is sealed with an anti-fog film. The empty corrugated pack can be recycled easily in the wastepaper stream and the film wrap sorted into plastic waste.
