Groundbreaking for the new headquarters: Spirit of optimism at ISRA VISION
News General news
More than three decades ago, ISRA VISION was founded as a spin-off from the Technical University of Darmstadt and subsequently developed into a leading global machine vision technology company. At the end of June 2021, the founder and CEO of ISRA VISION, Enis Ersü, will retire from his operational professional life. In the course of his succession planning, ISRA has entered into a strategic partnership with the Swedish industrial group Atlas Copco, forming the core of the new Machine Vision Solutions division. With a new, powerful management team, the course is now being set for further successful business development.

With the traditional groundbreaking ceremony for the new corporate headquarters, ISRA VISION AG is laying the foundation for its further growth at its headquarters in Darmstadt. On the site with the characteristic water tower on Frankfurter Straße, located in the urban development area "Knell", three connected buildings with offices, development laboratories as well as demo and assembly halls are being built in two construction phases on a site area of approx. 15,000 m2.
The new building has been generously designed by the Darmstadt-based architectural firm fs Architekten to accommodate the future development of ISRA VISION and the steadily growing number of employees. The building, which has been designed according to high energy standards, will gradually grow with the company and, when completed, will provide space for approximately 960 workstations.
At the start of construction, special thanks go to Darmstadt Mayor Jochen Partsch and the city of Darmstadt, who actively supported the search for a suitable location. The company's founder, Enis Ersü, who recently retired from his operational career, set the course for the new headquarters several years ago. The globally operating Atlas Copco Group joined ISRA VISION in 2020 as a strategic partner and at the same time adhered to the plans for the new building, which was designed for growth and an increase in employees. With the assistance of Felix Schneider from Gerhard.Architekten in Darmstadt and Horst Ulrich Werb for Schindler & Werb AG, the preliminary work was done to lay the foundation stone for the new building together with the contracted planners and craftsmen.
The new Chairman of the Executive Board of ISRA VISION, Tomas Lundin, ex-CEO as well as company founder Enis Ersü and the Chief Financial Officer Martin Heinrich did not miss the opportunity to break ground together with Mayor Jochen Partsch. The start of construction for the new headquarters not only opens a new chapter in the eventful history of the company, but is also a strong sign of the company's local ties. ISRA VISION was founded in 1985 as a spin-off from the Technical University. In the meantime, the steadily growing company and its subsidiaries are global leaders in the surface inspection of web materials. In addition, it is one of the leading global providers of image processing (machine vision) with specialization in the area of 3D machine vision, in particular for "3D robot vision". With its new strategic partner Atlas Copco, the up-and-coming company has big plans. The groundbreaking ceremony is therefore to be seen as a signal of departure into a promising and successful future.
As a global player, ISRA feels that it is in good hands in Darmstadt. For many years, close relationships have been maintained with the Technical University, the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and the various research facilities, such as the Fraunhofer Institute. With the groundbreaking ceremony, ISRA VISION is positioning itself as an employer with excellent future prospects in the region and is creating the best conditions for promoting young talent. Numerous additional jobs are to be created at the new location: In addition to trained specialists, young talents are particularly sought after. In addition, there are considerations that start-ups with a technological orientation that matches ISRA VISION will also find space on the site and be able to develop there accordingly.
For the employees, the new headquarters will create an inspiring working environment that is in harmony with the ecological challenges and entrepreneurial values. The headquarters, which have been planned with ecological considerations in mind, will also be built sustainably in accordance with the 55 efficiency house standard. Great importance was also attached to a high proportion of green outdoor areas, e-charging structures for bicycles and cars on the company premises, and noiseless, clean assembly technology. The completion of the first construction phase and the move into the new headquarters are planned for the turn of the year 2022 / 2023.
