Four top awards crown the company's innovative strength
The German Packaging Award is one of the most important European showcases of achievements in packaging and is held under the patronage of the Federal Minister of Economics and Climate Protection. All innovations and solutions are awarded by an independent jury, in ten different categories. The ten categories in which innovations and new solutions can be submitted cover diverse industries, segments and disciplines. These range from industrial, logistics and promotional packaging to sales displays and the topic of digitalisation.
As one of the world's largest and most successful manufacturers of paper-based packaging solutions, Smurfit Kappa relies on the market power of sustainable innovations and has already been awarded the German Packaging Award in this regard several times. After receiving awards last year, the company was once again very successful in 2022 and was able to take four top positions in the competition.
Smurfit Kappa wins in the display and digitisation categories
In addition to three important awards in the field of packaging displays, including two displays for the well-known brands Hela and Nurofen, Smurfit Kappa has this year been "awarded the SupplySmart Analyzer", in the important and future-oriented discipline of digitisation.
A brief overview of the four award winners:
1. The Hela display
The display for the Hela brand convinces through its very good visibility with a good long-distance effect at the point of sale. The interesting structure of the display sets it apart from competing products on the market. In addition, the display shows the many advantages of Hela products at a glance and thus increases brand awareness and product sales.
2. The Nurofen counter display
The innovative Nurofen counter display was specially developed for use in pharmacies to draw attention to the new Nurofen capsules. The display shows visual depth through visual adaptations and arouses curiosity at first glance for further product information. This information is clearly visible on the front and back of the display.
3. The LED - Life Extended Display
The Life Extended Display impresses with its long service life, reusability and multiple use. In addition to quick assembly with few individual parts, the display has a flexible height variability and is thus suitable for a wide product portfolio. At the same time, the high load-bearing capacity of the shelves, up to 25 kg, means that the display can be used for a wide range of products without any problems. Finally, the possibilities for effortless expansion and customisation lead to maximum flexibility.
4. The SupplySmart Analyzer
Smurfit Kappa's SupplySmart Analyzer can be used to optimise entire supply chains based on data. The software makes it possible to uncover cost savings along the entire supply chain of customers and at the same time to calculate potential improvements for the benefit of sustainability. For this purpose, the tool collects all packaging- and process-related data, from primary packaging and secondary packaging to internal and external logistics handling, and ultimately throws up the respective optimisation and savings potential in bundled form. In the future, customers will know exactly how much CO2, trucks or cardboard they save when they make improvements to their packaging.
Boris Maschmann, CEO Smurfit Kappa DACH, comments:
We are very proud of these awards, as we have shown once again that we can develop exceptionally good solutions for our customers with our innovative strength. In addition, we are taking further steps in the digitisation of our packaging optimisation offering, demonstrably ensuring more sustainable packaging and more efficient processes in the packaging sector.
