Smurfit Kappa and WestRock finalise merger and go public

The merger of Smurfit Kappa and WestRock has been completed and the initial listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) commenced on 8 July.
"The combination of Smurfit Kappa and WestRock creates a global leader in sustainable packaging, combining the vast experience and expertise of both companies," said Tony Smurfit, CEO of Smurfit WestRock.
Smurfit Kappa operates 355 mills, including 35 paper mills, 241 converting operations, 43 recovered paper processing facilities, two wood sourcing operations in Europe, one forestry operation in the Americas and 33 other manufacturing facilities that perform other related activities.
WestRock owns and operates 18 corrugated base paper mills in the US, India, Mexico, Canada and Brazil with a total capacity of 9.66 million tonnes, as well as nine paperboard mills in the US and one in Mexico with a total capacity of approximately 3.67 million tonnes.
