EUWID market report on recovered paper: Rise in recovered paper prices reaches its peak
News General news
Following another double-digit rise in waste paper prices for most grades in June, there were no further price increases in July. There are even reports of initial downward corrections for department store waste paper.
The main reason for this is said to be cheap imports from neighboring countries, which are ensuring good availability on the German market.
As expected, however, waste paper prices rose again last month. However, the increase was weaker than in April and May, but somewhat stronger than originally expected.
Overall, prices on the German waste paper market rose sharply in the first half of the year. The increase was strongest for bulk grades. The cumulative change for the first six months results in an increase of almost €70/t for mixed paper. Prices for department store waste paper rose even more sharply and deinked goods were almost €100/t more expensive in June than at the end of 2023.
