Pulp prices stabilize in December: manufacturers announce new price increases
News General news
There was more movement on the European pulp market at the turn of the year. As expected, customers obtained a further increase in discounts of several percentage points in the negotiations for 2025.

Manufacturers, for their part, reacted immediately and demanded price increases for deliveries from January or February. The price negotiations for deliveries in December did not result in any major changes to the prices for short and long-fiber pulp.
The demand for pulp on the European market is usually described by manufacturers as good to satisfactory, as it has been in previous months. It is no coincidence that the industry was able to sell around 10% more pulp in 2024 than in the previous year, according to manufacturers. However, differences are made according to sales segment. Manufacturers of tissue paper are reportedly continuing to call up good volumes and place new orders, while there has been little movement in the printing and writing paper segment since around April or May.
