Project at Chapelle Darblay paper mill not yet abandoned
News General news
Despite a lack of funding, the Chapelle Darblay project in France, which envisages a new paper machine for corrugated base paper at the decommissioned paper mill, has not yet been abandoned.

On December 20, 2024, the deadline expired for the state to commit to financial support so that the project, which is designed for packaging paper, can continue.
EUWID has learned that Fibre Excellence has now agreed to wait another five months to secure funding in light of the political situation. The state has given assurances that it will do everything in its power to procure the necessary funding as soon as the political situation allows.
The waiting period is linked to the costs of maintaining the Chapelle Darblay plant, which Fibre Excellence currently leases from Veolia. The company is therefore keen to find a quick solution. There is also pressure from politicians and the trade union, as restarting the plant would bring back jobs that have been lost.
