Progroup takes over the site of the Sappi Stockstadt paper and pulp mill
News General news
Representatives of the producer of corrugated base paper Progroup AG and Sappi Stockstadt GmbH have signed a contract to take over the site of the paper and pulp mill in Stockstadt.
The takeover of the site is scheduled for April 2024. Following this, the dismantling of the old facilities is to be planned and carried out. This step is necessary to make room for the implementation of the future site concept and will be completed in the course of 2025.
At the same time, concrete plans and technical reports will be drawn up to serve as a basis for permit applications and forthcoming investments. Step by step, a concept is to be developed to produce corrugated base paper sustainably and innovatively with the help of a closed material cycle, according to the company.
The integrated Sappi Stockstadt pulp and paper mill has a production capacity of 145,000 t/y of pulp and 220,000 t/y of coated and uncoated wood-free paper. The company employs around 500 people at the site, which Sappi had informed about the sale in October.
