Production volume in the folding carton industry fell significantly in 2023

The Folding Carton Industry Association (FFI) looks back on a difficult year for the market in 2023 in terms of production volume and value.
After 2021 and 2022 were "two very good years" for the industry, rising inflation, a decline in demand, rising prices and the reduction of stocks throughout the supply chain confronted the German folding carton industry last year, explained FFI Board Spokesman Andreas Helbig and FFI Managing Director Christian Schiffers at a press conference in Frankfurt in mid-February.
As a result, the production volume of the association's members, which represent around a third of the German market, fell by 6.2% to a total of 519,795 tonnes in 2023. At the same time, the production value increased by 2.3% to €1.47 billion.
