Germany: Printing and paper industry poorly books LWC and SC paper

In view of the good availability of LWC and SC papers, buyers describe the situation on the market as “the sea is calm”. The print industry has been adapting to the structural decline in demand for some time now. No “retreat of the print media” is to be expected. However, the underutilization of print shops, the lack of stability in business, including insufficient margins and the development on the cost side are weighing heavily on companies.

Meanwhile, players in the paper and printing industry are struggling with bureaucratic hurdles. The introduction of the EUDR is being discussed intensively in many places. Alongside fierce criticism, players are emphasizing the need to prepare companies for the requirements. Market participants believe that the paper industry is largely well prepared, but that many printing companies have some catching up to do.
