Regionally connected: Pizza Bauer relies on digitally printed packaging from Thimm

Thimm produces pizza boxes for the new frozen products of the cult pizzeria Pizza Bauer in Northeim. Sustainability is an important concern for the pizzeria. That's why Thimm's corrugated cardboard packaging is made of 100 per cent recycled paper and can be completely recycled after use.

The traditional stone-baked pizza from the cult pizzeria in Northeim is now also finding its way into private ovens: for this purpose, the pizzas are shaped and topped by hand in the usual quality, pre-baked in the stone oven and then packaged and deep-frozen. For the market launch of the deep-frozen pizza, Pizza Bauer relies on regional suppliers and obtains the packaging directly from the Northeim family business Thimm. The corrugated cardboard manufacturer produces the pizza boxes from testliner, a paper made of 100 per cent recycled fibres. Consumers can recycle the E-flute pizza boxes after use via the waste paper bin. This turns the used boxes into a valuable recycled product from which paper can be made again.

For the launch, Pizza Bauer offers the varieties "Salami", "Grilled Meat" and "Fresh Tomatoes" as frozen pizzas. In order to generate the desired attention in the frozen food aisle alongside other brand manufacturers, Thimm printed the packaging using a digital printing process. This resulted in high-quality prints. As a positive side effect, no additional printing plates are needed with this printing process. On the one hand, this saves printing pre-costs and, on the other hand, fossil raw materials, thus avoiding non-recyclable waste. In addition to these environmental and cost benefits, digital printing offers another advantage: compared to other printing processes, a different print image can be placed very flexibly in the follow-up order, even for small print runs, for example when introducing additional pizza varieties in the frozen segment.

The frozen pizzas are already available in the Northeim pizzeria for out-of-home sales. In addition, the new pizzas in the Thimm carton can now be found in the freezers at the Edeka market Schnabel & Sohn in Northeim.
