The Supreme Court of British Columbia reviewed and approved the arbitration proposal at the end of May. This means that the reopening of the Northern Pulp mill in Abercombie Point with an annual capacity of 280,000 tonnes of NBSK pulp is finally off the table.
Instead, Paper Excellence wants to examine the possibility of building a new pulp mill at another location in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The company will begin a feasibility study immediately and it will take up to nine months to reach a conclusion, the Nova Scotia government said.
