The state of Rhineland-Palatinate is supporting Progroup, based in Offenbach an der Queich in the Südliche Weinstraße district, with a subsidy of 2,175,000 euros, as Minister of Economic Affairs Daniela Schmitt has announced.
"The people in the region benefit from Progroup's entrepreneurial courage. The company is an important employer in the Southern Palatinate and has developed from there into a Europe-wide specialist for corrugated board. The company expansion is a commitment to Rhineland-Palatinate as a business location and proves that top companies are at home in Rhineland-Palatinate," said Minister of Economic Affairs Daniela Schmitt.
The company intends to build a corrugated sheet feeder plant in Höheischweiler/Petersberg. The new plant is to be built directly next to G.+G. Preißer GmbH, which will take a large part of the corrugated board formats produced and use them to manufacture corrugated board packaging. "With the new plant, we are not only strengthening the Palatinate location, but at the same time expanding our market position in northern France and southern Germany. We are consistently pursuing our growth strategy in order to offer our customers the usual high delivery reliability and convincing product quality as well as to open up new customer groups at the same time," says Jürgen Heindl, CEO of Progroup.
Progroup, based in Landau in the Palatinate, was founded in 1991 as Prowell GmbH by Jürgen Heindl. This year, Mr Heindl was awarded the Business Medal for his commitment to Rhineland-Palatinate as a business location.
The company is supported by federal and state funds from the joint task "Improvement of the Regional Economic Structure" (GRW). The Investitions- und Strukturbank Rheinland-Pfalz (ISB) implements the programme: "As the state's development bank, we support SMEs with a variety of programmes. We are very pleased that we can strengthen the economy in the region and contribute to the creation of new jobs by supporting Progroup Board GmbH," said ISB board member Dr Ulrich Link.
Progroup is one of the largest manufacturers of corrugated board in Europe with plants in Germany, Poland, France, Great Britain, the Czech Republic and Italy. Progroup has a total of around 1,500 employees throughout Europe and is an important employer in the region with around 260 employees. The new plant will create 67 additional jobs.
