According to Norske Skog, the company has received a total of nkr 2.4 billion in insurance benefits for damage to the mill and the machine. The insurance benefits would make it possible to rebuild PM 6 for the production of SC paper, but also to consider investments in other product areas.

On April 27 of this year, the building, equipment and PM 6 at the Halden mill were damaged by a rockslide and production on the machine (260,000 tons of SC paper per year) was stopped. In August, Norske Skog then decided to restart PM 5 (100,000 metric tons of SC paper), which had been shut down in 2020, in order to secure customer deliveries.

Norske Skog explained that the Saugbrugs mill has a very efficient production of SC paper by global standards. With the PM 5, which is currently being restarted, it has a capacity of 200,000 tons per year to meet customer demand, the company explained.
