Norske Skog postpones commissioning of PM 1 in Golbey until 2025
News General news
Norske Skog is once again postponing the start of the PM 1 paper machine converted to corrugated base paper at the French paper mill in Golbey.
Production is now scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2025, Norske Skog announced at the beginning of September. The start of the production ramp-up phase was originally planned for the fourth quarter of 2023, but this was postponed to the second quarter of 2024 and then to the second half of 2024.
Commissioning of the roller store, winder and waste water station is underway. In addition, pre-commissioning (I/O testing) of the OCC drum pulper on PM 1 has begun, with the full ramp-up phase expected to start at the beginning of October. Due to the revised schedule and the additional work required, the net investment now totals €320 million.
The conversion of PM 1 in Golbey from newsprint to corrugated base paper began in the fourth quarter of 2022. Once completed, the paper machine is expected to have a capacity of 550,000 tonnes per year.
