Mail Volume Very Low on Mondays

In fact, Deutsche Post does deliver letters and parcels on Mondays as well. However, the mail volume at the start of the week is significantly lower than on other workdays. According to the post office, only around 2 percent of the weekly mail volume arrives on Mondays.

The reason: Companies and authorities generally do not work on weekends. Therefore, no new business mail is generated for Monday delivery. On Mondays, mailboxes mainly receive private mail that was dropped off over the weekend.

Declining Numbers in Private Mail

But the number of private letters has also been sharply declining for years. More and more people are relying on digital communication such as emails, chats, or messaging instead of traditional letters. This is particularly noticeable on Mondays when business mail is lacking.

Postmen Work Normally on Mondays

Deutsche Post postmen thus have significantly less to do on Mondays than during the rest of the week. Nevertheless, they are on duty to the usual extent and deliver the mail as usual.

The fact that the mailbox often remains empty on Mondays is simply due to the low mail volume at the start of the new week. Those who are waiting for important mail on Mondays need not worry - delivery works reliably even on the unpopular Monday.
