Muller Martini: Abedik Continues to Grow
News General news
The Abedik print shop from Poznan, Poland, is working with Muller Martini to further expand its capacities in the perfect binding sector.
The company is fully specialized in book production and has been for over 25 years. Just in the last year and a half, the company has seen growth of over 30 percent despite the ongoing Corona crisis. Which is also due to the disrupted supply chains around the world, some of which have prompted production to be brought back to Europe. In 2021, twelve million books were bound at Abedik in a wide variety of designs - in soft and hard covers. The machinery available for this is impressive: twelve web presses, four sheetfed offset presses and a system specially designed for book production.
Abedik and Muller Martini have enjoyed an intensive and trusting working relationship for many years. Three bookbinding lines from the Swiss manufacturer of the Kolbus brand are in operation at the Polish company, almost around the clock. In order to be optimally equipped for the continuing growth, but also for the increased requirements, the investment in a further perfect binder line was inevitable. In addition to shorter makeready times and a higher net output, the new line also had to be able to handle functions such as inline processing of folded-in flaps.
Due to the stability and resulting availability, as well as the high level of automation of the existing bookbinding lines, the decision was once again made in favor of a solution from the Muller Martini portfolio. With a maximum output of 8,000 cycles per hour, the KM 610.A perfect binder complements the machine park and thus ensures the further expansion of capacities in print finishing. In addition, Abedik also benefits from the attractive price/performance ratio of the Muller Martini solution, which enables it to increase its competitiveness once again.
