On August 19, a cable fire broke out on the pipeline bridge between the power plant and the water supply, which was quickly extinguished. However, the fire caused a power failure in several departments of the plant. As a result, pulp production had to be temporarily halted, a Metsä spokesperson told EUWID.

Production was resumed on August 23, the statement continued. The production stop did not lead to bottlenecks in the supply of the company's own board mills or in deliveries to external customers.

The Kaskinen pulp mill has a production capacity of 390,000 tons per year of BCTMP, which is mainly used as an intermediate layer in the production of folding boxboard. Some of the pulp produced is processed internally, including at the Husum board mill.
