Meldorf paper mill begins search for investors
News General news
Following the application to open insolvency proceedings, Papierfabrik Meldorf is now in provisional insolvency proceedings.
Four weeks after the application was filed, the responsible insolvency administrator gives EUWID an insight into the background that led to the situation. Triggered by the current poor demand, which has affected the entire paper market, at one point the high energy costs could no longer be paid. Thanks to the insolvency proceedings that have been initiated, a solution has now been found with the responsible energy provider so that operations and production can continue without restrictions.
With a capacity of around 90,000 tons, Papierfabrik Meldorf is one of the smaller suppliers in the market for corrugated base paper, but over the years the company has specialized in the production of base paper based on alternative fibres. This was possible because the paper mill can act flexibly due to its size.
After reviewing all the documents, the search for a buyer has now been initiated. The announcement of the insolvency proceedings had led to a measurable increase in demand for the products manufactured in Meldorf, which would reflect the need for grass paper.
