Konica Minolta introduces new AccurioJet KM-1e HD UV inkjet printing system
News General news
The use of the new HD technology further improves the quality of the AccurioJet KM-1e's color reproduction. This includes the reproduction of skin tones, homogeneous print output of areas and the reproduction of textures with an "industry best" image quality. Photo books, fine art prints and digital packaging printing are among the niche markets for which the new model is suited.
Since unveiling the AccurioJet KM-1 sheetfed inkjet digital printing system in 2016, Konica Minolta has continuously supported its customers as they transform and expand their businesses. The company's primary goal of being close to its customers has enabled it to build on its proprietary technologies.
In 2020, it launched the KM-1e, which offers high-quality printing on a wide range of substrates and additional interface technology for direct finishing. Uncoated, coated paper, colored and metallized papers, transparent media, plastic media, canvas and stone paper are all substrates that can be printed on the press.
The AccurioJet KM-1e LED UV inkjet printing system, dubbed the Swiss Army Knife of printing for its wide range of applications, has received INGEDE deinking certification for uncoated and coated papers, which includes recycled grades. Recently, the system received Idealliance® Master Elite ISO/PAS 15339 system certification, which confirms that it meets the color gamut requirements of the Characterized Reference Print Conditions (CRPC) of ISO/PAS 15339. In addition, the system meets all criteria for toy testing according to the specific categories for toy safety EN 71-3 and EN 71-9.
The new AccurioJet KM-1e HD model builds on these strengths and has further increased its appeal for applications such as photo and art books. In addition to some technical improvements, an analysis of the status of machine operation and further developments to increase productivity were realized in close cooperation with our customers.
In Europe, the first customer for the AccurioJet KM-1e HD was announced as Werner Druck AG, as part of its expansion into the personalized packaging and finishing markets. Werner Druck & Medien has also ordered an MGI JETvarnish 3D and motion cutter.
Managing Director Roger Kessler explains, "We opted for this total solution because we see great potential in the packaging and finishing market over the next few years. With this combination of equipment, we are now very well positioned to optimally meet the market requirements in this area."
"The new high-quality HD model continues the customer-focused history of the KM-1 and will help to further expand customers' applications and business," says Mirko Pelzer, Offering Manager Konica Minolta Germany & Austria. "By using HD, it is possible to harmonize skin tones in the color output, print homogeneous areas and improve the reproduction of textures. Image quality has now reached the highest level in the industry. There is no difference in RIP times, and we expect ink consumption to change very little."
Pelzer adds, "The AccurioJet KM-1e and KM-1e HD models are important pillars in our strategy to help our customers rethink creativity. Working in close partnership, we want to help them shape and exploit the many new opportunities that digitization brings and support the trend to switch from offset to inkjet printing in a growth market."
