The cocoa varieties from Kakao Mischa the ideal choice for cocoa ceremonies and are known for their exceptionally high quality. “We place great value on sustainability, appreciation and fairness, from cultivation and harvesting, to when the cocoa is moulded into flowers, hearts and diamonds, right through to packaging and shipping,” says Mischa Levit, founder of Kakao Mischa. This is also reflected in the new packaging produced by Black Forest-based packaging specialist Karl Knauer – and it is evident at first glance: The chosen cardboard material ‘Crush Cacao’ is an innovative and ecological paper product that consists of up to 15% cocoa bean shells, a waste product from chocolate production. Silver and gold embossing adds to the exclusive appearance of the small treasure chests holding the cocoa specialities.

“In the interests of sustainability, we also decided against the usual PE coating,” explains Key Account Manager Michele Tamburello. Karl Knauer has instead opted for a sustainable coating that is slightly more complex to process but meets the strict hygiene regulations for direct contact with food to the same extent.

Rather than being packaged in small paper bags as was previously the case, the cocoa varieties are now packed in little, stackable ‘treasure chests’ and sent safely to customers across Germany and Europe.
