Italy: Price pressure remains high in the market for AP corrugated base paper

On the one hand, it is important for manufacturers to emphasise that prices have remained unchanged in many places and that they prefer to stop the paper machines and remove volumes from the market instead of reducing prices.

On the other hand, some manufacturers admitted in the EUWID interview that average prices for the month of November are likely to be lower because higher market prices are becoming increasingly difficult to achieve and more volumes are being sold at lower prices than before. Overcapacity and supply pressure on the European market for AP packaging paper remain high despite temporary machine shutdowns and the permanent closure of individual paper mills.
