Another peculiarity in this context: In 1986, a German translation appeared under the title "Anton Voyl's Fortgang". And in this translation, too, the letter "e" does not appear even once, a feat that was again achieved by the translator Eugen Helmlé.

Both the writer George Perec and the translator Eugen Helmlé have thus achieved a masterpiece, because in both the French and German languages the "e" is one of the most frequently occurring letters.
