Industrie Cartarie Tronchetti Ibérica (ICT Ibérica) is to invest €60 million in energy generation at its El Burgo de Ebro mill.
Together with the company Atalaya, ICT Ibérica has launched “Project Royal” to generate up to 58% of the electricity required at the mill itself in future. This was announced by the government of the Aragón region on the online platform Aragonhoy.es.
In the first phase of the project, a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 4 MW and two wind turbines with a total capacity of 12 MW will be installed on the site next to the factory.
The Italian manufacturer of tissue and tissue products ICT, Lucca, commissioned the Spanish paper mill with a capacity of 70,000 tons of tissue per year in 2005. A project to double capacity and install additional processing lines followed in September 2018.
