Prices for brown corrugated base papers based on recovered paper are generally stable in August. Rumours about summer discounts could not be verified.

The willingness of manufacturers to compromise on pricing has clearly diminished since a good part of the mills are now in the red. There is not much downward potential left, they say. The conviction that the overcapacities that have built up will be felt for a longer time strengthens discipline.

Once prices have been run down, there is no hope of a quick recovery against the current background. At the moment, no major pressure has arisen from the new capacities started in June.
