Germany: Pronounced desire for price stability in the fine paper market
News General news
In the German fine paper market, intentions to increase prices are being met with resistance. Buyers are currently faced with a large number of announcements of price increases for coated and uncoated wood-free papers.
Incoming orders from suppliers have recently recovered somewhat, which is attributed to the lack of destocking effects, among other things. EUWID dialogue partners now fear that price adjustments could slow down demand again and give digital advertising a further boost at the expense of print advertising.
The volumes for 2024 are currently being negotiated and it is assumed that demand will continue to decline anyway. However, the majority of EUWID interviewees see the plans as the right signal for price stabilisation and more planning security.
