German government wants to relieve companies with electricity price package
News General news
The German government wants to ease the burden on energy-intensive industries with an electricity price package. The measures are to be adopted as quickly as possible.
According to a statement, the governing parties have agreed on a regulation that will apply for the next five years. Accordingly, the reduction in electricity tax for the years 2024 and 2025 will be regulated by law. There is agreement that the reduction should apply for a further three years. This would give companies planning security and free them from bureaucracy.
The electricity price bridge for the particularly energy-intensive industry and for the manufacturing sector will achieve relief of up to €12 billion next year alone. Furthermore, the Federal Government describes the consistent expansion of renewable energies and the electricity grids as crucial for Germany as a business location.
