As the manufacturer explains, Papkot has developed a large-scale paper coating technology. The process, which is intended to replace plastic as a barrier for paper packaging, involves converting silicon and cellulose into a nanostructured material.

The investment is part of Fedrigoni's Corporate Venture Capital program, which aims to identify start-ups with industrially scalable technologies. Together, Fedrigoni and Papkot aim to accelerate the global adoption of the technology and ensure that major FMCG brands have access to new packaging solutions.
