Pulp producers achieve turnaround also in Europe

Until a few weeks ago, rising pulp prices were dismissed as pure wishful thinking on the part of manufacturers. The discussions between suppliers and their customers in the paper industry were mainly about how high the discounts would be next month.

But the trend seems to be turning. After a brief period of stabilisation in August, prices for bleached short-fibre pulp for September deliveries have risen. And there are further demands for October. Manufacturers of long-fibre pulp want to do the same. Here, too, the first demands for price increases have been on the table for a few weeks. Prices are to rise from October, possibly only from November, explain pulp market players interviewed by EUWID.
