In Germany and other European countries, there had been small signals in recent months indicating an improvement in the situation and spreading slight optimism.
However, this was not confirmed in the weeks that followed and was not sustainable enough for the industry to fill capacity normally again after the vacations and towards the fourth quarter. The situation of German processors remains unsatisfactory in terms of volume, and the outlook for the fourth quarter remains subdued or simply impossible to assess.
There continued to be indications from some players of an improvement in the situation at the end of September, but this was more of a "better than expected" situation than a genuine return to normality, even if there are always brief upturns in individual companies or sectors.
