EUWID market report light kraft papers: Hope for an end to the slump in demand
News General news
The situation in the market for light brown and white MG kraft paper (40 g) was not uniform at the time of research at the beginning of August.
There seems to be a glimmer of hope in the industry that the lull in demand of the past months is coming to an end. Despite the summer holidays, paper producers, traders and converters tell EUWID that they are observing a "noticeable increase in incoming orders across all sectors".
However, not all interlocutors could confirm this development. The utilisation of the paper machines is still clearly expandable, the demand is too restrained and shutdown measures cannot be avoided in the next few weeks.
On the price front, the development of quotations continues to point downwards. However, representatives of the paper industry also emphasise that they are no longer prepared to accept any price.
