Major fire paralyses production at Essity plant in Italy

The Porcari tissue plant near Lucca in Italy of the Swedish company Essity, Stockholm, is currently at a standstill. The reason for this is a major fire that occurred on 12 March.

A company spokesperson confirmed to EUWID that a fire broke out in the mill's warehouse, destroying the building and 15,000 pallets of tissue products stored inside. The damage is considerable and even though the production lines are not affected, operations have been completely shut down for safety reasons.
It is not yet clear when production will restart.
