Sustainable handkerchiefs: Essity expands its range of alternative fibres
News General news
Essity wants to expand the share of alternative fibres in its product range to 10 per cent worldwide. With Tempo Bamboo Eco, the leading hygiene and health company is now launching a sustainable handkerchief in Germany that is made of 25 per cent rapidly renewable bamboo fibres. The latest Essity innovation has an up to 5 percent better carbon footprint in production. At the same time, it is just as soft, tear-resistant and machine-washable as the conventional Tempo handkerchief.
Markus Britz, Sales Director Brand, Region Central at Essity, says: "We know* that 79 percent of consumers demand products made from sustainable, natural raw materials. Young, environmentally conscious people in particular are changing their consumer behaviour and looking for alternatives to protect the environment. With Tempo Bamboo Eco, we have developed a handkerchief that combines our proven quality with sustainability."
Sustainable alternative in familiar Tempo quality
Bamboo is a rapidly renewable raw material that is ideally suited for hygiene paper production: the new Tempo Bamboo Eco is just as strong, tear-resistant and soft as all four-ply Tempo products. However, it consists of only three layers - which reduces the energy used in the manufacturing process and leads to an improved eco-balance of up to five percent.
Like all the fibres used by Essity, the bamboo fibres used in the new handkerchief are 100 per cent natural. They come from responsible sources and are certified with the FSC seal. In addition, Tempo Bamboo Eco is packaged in environmentally friendly plastics that are recyclable and contain up to 33% recycled plastic.
In stores now
The new Tempo Bamboo Eco is now available in German stores: as a classic packet for on the go in recyclable film and from January also in a practical, recyclable tissue box for the home.
