Essity produced around 30,000 tons per year of TAD (Through Air Drying) tissue paper in Tawd, which is further processed into tissue products for brands and private labels at the Manchester mill, explained a company spokesperson when asked by EUWID.

In future, the converting plant will be supplied with TAD paper from the integrated production in Manchester and from the Prudhoe plant. External tissue purchases are not planned.

Essity had already shut down the smaller of the two paper machines at the Oakenholt site in the UK in the spring. Production on the smaller machine was transferred to the second and larger PM, reducing the total capacity in Oakenholt from 72,000 tons per year to 48,000 tons per year of tissue paper.
