Digital testing solutions from emtec Electronic reduce energy consumption and waste for improved bioeconomy

The 27-year-old company will present the TSA Tissue Softness Analyzer and the ACA Ash Content Analyzer at the PROGRESS2022 conference and exhibition from 20 to 22 September at Andel's Hotel in Lodz, Poland.
According to the motto "Road to bioeconomy", the 20-year PROGRESS conference focuses on topics such as increasing resource and energy efficiency. On the one hand, the focus is on realising high-quality products in paper production, while at the same time manufacturers are striving for more sustainability and want technical solutions that combine both goals.
After the conference, exhibition visitors can delve further into this topic with presentations such as the one by the German company emtec Electronic. Emtec will present three of its innovations at the event that aim to ensure high product quality, optimise the papermaking process, and save energy and material costs.
"One of the keys to achieving sustainability goals while increasing ROI has always been to reduce material waste," says Alexander Grüner, Global Marketing and Business Development Manager at emtec. "This not only saves costs, but also minimises environmental impact."
The TSA Tissue Softness Analyser objectively measures the micro and macro surface variations (determining softness and roughness) as well as stiffness of any type of tissue paper, whether base material or finished product. The TSA allows precise adjustments along the individually measured haptic parameters, and the "hand-feel" calculated from these correlates almost completely with the results of hand panel tests. Its light weight and intuitive design make the TSA a useful tool for performing digital measurements and comparing paper samples in the field. Compared to hand panel testing, it saves both time and material, as hand panels are often time-consuming and costly. This leads to a quick return on investment.
Another on-site measurement tool is the ACA Ash Content Analyser, an easily portable digital instrument that displays the total filler content of paper and board, as well as the percentage of each mineral filler, within one minute and does not destroy the sample. Compared to the traditional ashing method, the use of the ACA results in immense time, energy and material savings. The overall consumption of fillers can be reduced due to the immediate and highly accurate measurement results, while the specifications for the filler content in the end product can be narrowed down or met.
Another emtec innovation, which will not be on site due to its size, but which ensures better process control and optimisation, is the FPO Fiber Potential Analyzer Online. This online measuring device provides permanent process control by automatically determining the zeta potential of fibres and fillers quickly and reliably. The data from the FPO enables technicians to change process settings immediately if necessary, which ultimately helps to save money, time and material, paving the way for Paper Manufacturing 4.0.
Attendees of PROGRESS2022 are invited to stop by the emtec Electronic stand and talk to Global Sales Manager Ulli Kasten about how emtec innovations help paper manufacturers save energy and resource costs.
