Final report of the Gas Commission: Companies regain perspective
News General news
The German paper industry welcomed the final report of the Gas Commission presented today. "The gas price brake gives energy-intensive companies in Germany a perspective again," explained Winfried Schaur, President of DIE PAPIERINDUSTRIE.
It is important that a solution has also been found for gas-fired CHP plants, with which the paper industry has been generating energy particularly efficiently for a long time.
The linking of aid to location and transformation agreements is a matter of course from the paper industry's point of view. "In the paper industry in particular, many companies have been firmly anchored at the location for generations," said Schaur. "We want to maintain our production and our jobs in Germany. The aid now planned is an important factor in this. Therefore, politicians would be well advised to implement the Commission's report in exactly the same way."
At least as important as the gas price brake is the announced relief for electricity costs via the electricity price brake. This must also be implemented quickly. Here, too, CHP plants must be included so that the most efficient form of energy generation is not disadvantaged in the end.
