“The market is currently characterized by cut-throat competition, which is accompanied by a strong economic weakness in demand. Parallel increases in production costs, e.g. for energy and raw materials, have ultimately made this decision necessary. Nevertheless, ongoing discussions with investors are continuing, which allows a positive overall outlook for the long-term continuation of our business,” explains Managing Director Robert Hein in a company statement.

Meanwhile, production will be maintained in full. Employees' wages and salaries are secured for a period of three months by the so-called insolvency substitute benefits.

In Dörfles-Esbach, the Coburger Kartonagenfabrik manufactures packaging solutions from solid board and corrugated board produced in-house with around 210 employees.

The Coburg Local Court has appointed Klaus-Christof Ehrlicher from the law firm Linse & Ehrlicher as provisional insolvency administrator.
