The core of the expansion is the installation of a new, state-of-the-art corrugated cardboard machine. The machine was put into operation on November 19, 2024. The investment will not only significantly increase production capacity, but will also noticeably optimize productivity and quality factors as well as delivery flexibility.

This modernization should also significantly increase the sustainability of packaging production. The new plant will also reduce energy consumption and a photovoltaic system has been installed on the roof of the new building and on the existing buildings of Bourquin SA at the Oensingen site.

The 120-metre-long system with corresponding logistics from the Bavarian machine manufacturer BHS Corrugated is a machine with a working width of 2.80 meters. The production speed can reach over 300 meters per minute. The commissioning of this new corrugator will not only replace the ageing old corrugator. In addition to increasing production capacity by up to 30%, it will be possible to produce flute types and combinations with lighter paper grammages in the caliber range of E, F, B, C, D, EE, EB, BC, F and FE flutes. The new technology will shorten set-up times, optimize paper stocks and ensure a reliable supply chain.

With this step, Bourquin SA is consolidating its position as one of the quality and innovation leaders in the field of corrugated cardboard packaging solutions.
