BMH Technology to supply a biomass fuel handling system to Sappi Kirkniemi Mill in Lohja, Finland
News General news
Sappi Finland I Oy and BMH Technology Oy have signed a contract for the delivery of a biomass fuel handling system to the Kirkniemi Mill in Lohja, Finland. Sappi Kirkniemi Mill is a part of Sappi group that operates in more than 35 countries with manufacturing on three continents and produces everyday materials from woodfibre-based renewable resources. The Kirkniemi Mill employs roughly 550 people and produces more than 750.000 tons of superior-quality magazine paper every year.
The new fuel handling system will bring the existing boiler in line with current environmental goals as it ends the era of coal as fuel. The boiler’s future fuel supply will consist of biomass, namely forest residues and bark.
BMH delivery completes the existing infrastructure and incorporates also the feeding of Sappi Kirkniemi Mill’s own bark into the process. It consists of a fuel receiving station with two back unloading units for trucks, a fuel quality control station, a silo storage with a rotating TYRANNOSAURUS® screw reclaimer and all necessary fuel conveyors.
The delivery will be handed over to the customer during spring 2023.
